Gum Arabic, also referred to as acacia gum, is a naturally occurring substance derived from the sap of specific species of acacia trees, including Acacia senegal and Vachellia (Acacia) seyal.
Commercial harvesting of wild trees, primarily in Sudan, yields the gum. Gum Arabic is an edible stabilizer used in the food industry and is classified as E414.
Its applications extend beyond food, and it is utilized in lithography, printing, cosmetics, paint production, glue, and various industrial processes, such as viscosity control in textiles and inks.
Despite its numerous applications, its continued use may face challenges from more cost-effective alternatives in some areas.
